California School District Connected to Sponsors of Drag Shows for HS Students; Recommends Social Networking Site to Students in Crisis--Kids Mingle With Adults up to Age 24.
Desert Sands Unified School District, located in La Quinta California, seems to be putting students into inappropriate and/or dangerous situations by recommending, or allowing schools to be affiliated with, organizations that provide environments where children interact with adults.
The district is affiliated, through the various school-site Gay Student Alliance (GSA) clubs and/or other LGBTQ+-centric clubs, with the non-profit organization Safe Schools Desert Cities Corp. Safe Schools provides various opportunities for district children (students) to mingle with college-age students, up to the age of 22.
Off of school property, of course.
The district also recommends, on its Social Emotional Wellness (SEL) page, that students in crisis turn to a LGBTQ+ social networking site for assistance. The site, called The Trevor Project, appears to allow adults up to the age of 24-years old to interact with school children.
One event that Safe Schools sponsors is the “Pride Prom”. The latest prom was held in May of 2022, and was open to high school students as well as “college students” to the age of 22.
The event featured a drag show with no less than nine performers.
If the headliner of a show is always the last performer, than the headliner of the prom drag show was a performer by the name of “Daddy Yank Me”.
Fine job you’re doing there, Desert Sands.
The poster does not give a minimum age, but it appears that this event was open to all high school students—even 9th graders as young as 14-years old.
Take note of those ages (14 and 24), there will be a test at the end.
Safe Schools Desert Cities Corp is a 501 (c) tax-exempt corporation according to 2019 tax filings. The filings report a revenue of $107,526 in 2019, all from gifts, grants, program service revenue, and government contract and fees.
The affiliation between district schools and Safe Schools is shown on the Safe Schools website, but is written directly into their tax filings as well.
The Trevor Project is a resource for students in crisis, and is listed on the district’s SEL web page, right after the suicide hotline and county CARES line.
The Trevor project claims to be the,
“world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people.”
Under The Trevor Project umbrella is an app called “TrevorSpace”. From the website:
“TrevorSpace is an affirming, online community for LGBTQ young people between the ages of 13-24 years old. With over 400,000 members across the globe, you can explore your identity, get advice, find support, and make friends in a moderated community intentionally designed for you.
TrevorSpace was first highlighted by local parent and education reform activist, Celeste Fiehler on twitter:
One of the pictures posted to Fiehler’s twitter was apparently a screen shot from the app, and shows messages that appear to be from the app.
The first post is from a boy that says he is 15-years old and “gay and trans”. The boy is looking for a boyfriend and lists his interests.
He is answered by a male (presumably), that is listed as age “18-25” and replied “May be I would like to be your Boyfriend”.
That went quickly from a suicide prevention site to a dating site with older men, did it not? Not to mention the fact the maximum age was stated as 24.
Another picture that Fiehler posted showed that the landing page of the app has a pop-up instructing children on how to quickly exit (hide?) the app from unwanted over-the-shoulder watchers (parents?)
The question to the district, it would seem, is why they are sending children off to super secretive organizations (at least to parents) that expose them to adults and drag shows?
Furthermore, who vets these adults that are “counseling” and mingling with school-aged children?
One more thing, just what in the name of all that is holy is this school board thinking?
Remember the test? It is just two questions. Ready?
Q1: What is the minimum and maximum age of the pride prom and TrevorSpace?
A1: 13 and 24.
Q2: What is the minimum and maximum age of the California law, sponsored by Sen. Wiener (D), that prevents the mandate that adult men that rape boys be placed on a sex offender list?
A1: 14 and 24.
Do you believe in coincidences?
